I Should of Been a Mermaid

What have I been up to? Great question! I took a much needed vacation with my family and a few friends to the beach! It was a great time to reconnect. Life is so stinkin' busy that sometimes we forget the daily little things that make life worthwhile. This past week helped to throw that all into perspective.

We spend many afternoons on the beach. The kids played like they were little again. Arguing over who splashed water in their face or who jumped the highest over the big wave that just came in. It was music to a big kid mom's ears! Our evenings were spent having dinner together. At the same table. Talking and laughing. Just like the old days.

We partook in a few different family activities. Bike riding at almost dawn (goodness gracious I am NOT a morning person...this was a tough one for me!), crabbing and a scenic boat tour.

Most of all we laughed. We encountered a hellacious thunder storm while we were there. It gave way to make do with what we had. So, we danced to old school Brittany Spears and had a flip cup/pong tournament. (non alcohol for the littles of course!).

I also made the decision to leave the big camera behind for almost all of the trip. So, every photo that you see (except the family group photos) were take with my phone on the spur of the moment. I didn't have to worry about settings, where I was going to store the camera while doing an activity or missing out on things because I was behind the lens. I was there, present and participating for the first time in a long time. I'll take a few photos that are a bit blurry and out of focus. That's fine by me.

We by far had the best sunsets I have ever seen at any beach! It was gorgeous!

We celebrated a few major events the week we were gone. My son turned the big ONE EIGHT, Father's Day and my dear friends celebrated their twentieth wedding anniversary!

Siblings reconnected....parents and kids reconnected. The smell of the salt water..the sound of the waves crashing the shore. Yep...I should of been a mermaid. Or maybe I was in my past life. I could walk that beach at night forever. ......

Although I missed my friends and clients...I wish I could of stayed forever.

Much Love!
