How to choose your engagement session location and get a difficult mate to cooperate :)
Okay...so your now officially ENGAGED! Congratulations!!! You have posted the photos of your ring on your social media and called your mom and grandma...now what? You schedule your engagment photos of course! I am sure your first thought is, I am so excited..how do I get my fiance to go get these taken???? Am I right or am I right???? (I thought so..I am right!) No worries..we can get him/her there and actually have fun too! Here's how:
1. We have to choose a killer location! The photo above was at the one brides family farm. It is also where their wedding will be held. How fun is that? Talk to your sweetie. Where did you meet? What are your hobbies? What do you like to do in your spare time? Love Starbucks...lets go there! Call your local or most favorite location and ask if we can snap a few photos. (chances are they won't say no if you tell them what it is for). Do you hang out at home and cook together? I can come to you and we can do a more "lifestyle" session of you two engaging in an activitiy. (more on lifestyle sessions in a bit). Do you hunt? Throw on your camo for a few shots and lets head to the woods!
2. Involve your bride/groom. The photo above included all their favorite snacks so we made it into a picnic! Ask your sweetie what they think a great photo is. And when they say "Just do whatever you want"...then do what you want! (just kidding..hee hee). Still take the time to think about what your fiancee loves. Does he play guitar? Bring it! We can have him play it for you. Does she love to read? Bring a few of her favorite books! These photos are a meshing of the two of you.
3. Be Creative! The above photo was taken at the local library! Just buy your first home...I can come there. Also keep in mind we are not limited to just one location. Love to antique shop together? Lets visit the shop you frequent the most then head to another spot to finish out our experience.
5. Let's Go Lifestyle! Let's plan a whole session around the two of you doing what you do daily or love to do in your spare time. No poses. No fake smiles...but the real you. The real essence of your relationship. Cooking together, snuggling on the couch, playing football in the backyard or sitting around a bonfire. The possiblities are certainly endless. And FUN! We can incoorporate a little lifestyle into a regular session as well.
6. Choose your outfits wisely! (There will be a whole other blog post about this later on!) White shirts from Wal-Mart and jeans are okay...BUT, a killer set of shoes like above and something well fitting and current are even better! You do not have to wear the same color, especially with shades of red. Matching them up is extrememy difficult. You can also change outfits during your session. One outfit fun and casual and another dressy and funky. Don't be scared to go for it! Still not sure? Just send me a photo of the outfit your thinking of wearing. (I get customer clothing option photos ALL the time! lol) I will give honest opinions when needed.
Moral of the story is: We are going to have fun! I promise! I work with difficult guys/ladies all the time who hate to smile and hate their photo being taken. Message me with any concerns. I can help choose an amazing location that represents your love story and daily life if your unsure of where to go. I promise your going to love what we come up with.
Hugs,
Joyce
